4 years ago, Mark Fisher was asked by George Freeman MP and Chris Starkie CEO New Anglia LEP to lead the development of a Charter for Small Businesses in Norfolk, a Charter created by Small Businesses for Small Businesses.
So with 10 small business leaders from Norfolk, we created a Charter and presented this to George and Chris.
The question from George and Chris was how were we going to deliver the Charter goals, i.e. establish a community of like-minded small business leaders in Norfolk and build up their leadership capability so that they could outperform in terms of People, Prosperity and Planet?
We had what can only be described as a ‘Mexican stand-off’. Neither George and Chris nor our group of small business leaders wanted to make the first move, hoping the other would take the initiative and lead on the delivery of the Charter goals, we all knew it would be long and hard work.
The Charter for Small Businesses in Norfolk was in danger of becoming another paper initiative with lots of promise but no action, you’ve probably seen a few.
This is something that Mark couldn’t let happen so he set about finding a way to deliver against the Charter’s goals and really help all the small business leaders he knew.
It has taken 4 years in the thinking, 2 years in the planning and 1 year in the making, and finally Mark along with business partner Daniel Arpels are proud to launch MyBigSky.co.uk in direct response to the small business leader need described in the Charter.
We’ve used the learning from coaching over 100 small business leaders and focused on the understanding that whilst running a small business can be exhilarating, it can also be very tough and very lonely.
So MyBigSky is launched to provide practical, personal and proven training to help small business leaders tackle the ‘Problems behind the Problems’ – like stress, demotivation, lack of a plan, lack of accountability, lack of team engagement – and build their own fulfilling Big Sky.
